Curly tails are a fast active lizard which are a member of the swift family my trio consist of two females and a male, the male being the bright larger lizard in the picture the two small less colourful ones are the females. It would appear that in this species it’s the female that is dominant and has first comings on any food that’s put into the enclosure. I have successfully bread from my trio and have a young baby to show for it. They are housed in a 36” by 15” by 15” enclosure with sand as a substrate because they do enjoying borrowing, especially during the night when they sleep under it. I have some rocks and plant in there for décor and I’ve covered the back of their enclosure with tile adhesive which I then painted and varnished to give a rocky effect. The day time temperature sits at around 95 degrees dropping to 75 degrees over night this is maintained by a habitat to stop the enclosure over heating. They eat a wide range of insects such as crickets, locust, mealworms and waxworms and unlike some other lizards they enjoy drinking from a bowl. Curly tails make an ideal pet if you just want to watch them go about there daily business as they are very active but because there speed and size they are not easy to handle. |
